    ·         Pup Ceremony

o   When pups are first born, they are painted with blue, red, or gold and swaddled in warm blankets.  Pups are not named at this time due to the low survival rate of young in Palandor.  Though the survival rate is steadily rising, this tradition is still in place as a remembrance of harder times.

    ·         Naming Ceremony

o   At six months of age, pups are finally named and are celebrated with a party.  The family is expected to visit their ancestors’ burial site to pay homage to lost family members.

    ·         Booking Ceremony

o   Once named and fit enough to travel, pups are documented in a book, called the Book of Nevmore, kept in a vault of the castle.

    ·         Coming of Age Ceremony

o   When a pup is able to survive on their own, they are sent out on their own for week.  During this time, they are expected to defeat a monster.  Once they succeed, they are given a second name or title, after a unique attribute they possess.

    ·         Burial Ceremony

o   Families and tribes each have a place to honor their dead.  When a family member passes, they are buried next to their closest relatives in this private grave site.

    ·         Sela Ceremony

o   Dead ancestors are said to return for a single week in the spring.  The entire kingdom is expected to host extravagant parties, complete with food, games, and decorations.  This ceremony is held no matter the circumstances.

    ·         Marriage Ceremony

o   When a bride and a groom are married, a large party follows.  The couple is given two swan feathers, plucked from the same swan, and are expected to add two additional feathers each year on their anniversary.  These feathers used to be from dragons, however, ice dragons are increasingly rare today.

o   Marriage is for life and is taken extremely seriously.  If any one of the couple is found out to be cheating, the individual is stripped of their rank and is dishonored.

    ·         Dishonored Ceremony

o   Anyone who is dishonored will be removed from the Book of Nevmore and kicked out of their home.  Once removed from the Book, no one has ever been re-added and is considered dead to their family and friends.

o   Everything belonging to the dishonored is burned to be cleansed.

o   Actions to be banned include, but are not limited to: violence against the Queen, murder, torture, rape, cheating, and any betrayal of Palandor.

    ·         Honor Challenges

o   Honor Challenges are taken very seriously.  If someone has insulted another’s honor or character, they are allowed to declare combat.  Though not always, this is known to end in death.  Once a victor is declared, their word is thought to be the truth, and the loser may be dishonored or forgiven.

    ·         Ranks

o   Knight: They serve the kingdom and protect the people.  Knights are taken from a young age to be trained at the barracks.  They are taught bravery, loyalty, strength, and compassion.

o   Royal Knight: They serve the King and Queen and are meant to defend the royal blood line.  They obey the King and Queen without question and may offer to aid the kingdom.  Royal Knights are born into the job or may be chosen by the King and Queen.

o   Guard: They protect the city and tribes outside the castle.  Guards do not engage in battle.  They are meant to aid in rebuilding walls and helping the injured or weak to a safe location.

 ---

    ·         Superstitions

o   Shamed Ancestors: Ancestors’ spirits that are not welcome are prevented from entering the family’s house by leaving a summoning tag with the offending member’s name on it.

o   Ghost Gillgin: It is said that black and white Gillgin with burning eyes is an omen that whoever sees it will be haunted by a ghost who will cut out their eyes.  Spell tags are available to those who believe they may have seen this Gillgin.
